1. The service
Polymathic is a learning application — a curriculum of concepts, briefs, study questions, and trails for general education. The core of Polymathic is free to use. An optional AI Tutor is available as a paid subscription (see section 6); everything else stays free. By using Polymathic you agree to these terms; if you do not agree, please don't use the service.
2. Accounts
An account is optional. If you create one, keep your credentials safe — you are responsible for activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app, subject to the subscription safeguards in section 6; once deletion proceeds, your account and Tutor access end immediately. Our Privacy Policy describes what data an account stores and the limited records that may remain for legal reasons.
3. Acceptable use
Don't abuse the service: no attempts to disrupt or overload it, no probing or circumventing security measures, no automated scraping of the service at scale, and no unlawful use. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
4. Content and ownership
The editorial content of Polymathic (briefs, study questions, trails, design) is © its developer, all rights reserved; it is provided for your personal learning, not for redistribution. Historical artworks displayed in the app are in the public domain or under free licences (credited where shown) and are served from Wikimedia Commons. Some illustrations are AI-generated by the developer. Your own notes and study data remain yours — we store and sync them solely to provide the service.
5. Availability and changes
Polymathic is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. Your data is always exportable from inside the app, and we operate routine backups, but you should not treat Polymathic as your only copy of anything important to you.
6. AI Tutor subscription
The AI Tutor is an optional paid feature offered as an auto-renewing subscription. Everything else in Polymathic remains free. The price and billing period are shown before you subscribe. The tutor's answers are AI-generated and may be wrong or incomplete — treat them as a study aid, not authoritative fact or professional advice.
On iOS, subscriptions are processed by Apple through your Apple ID. Payment is charged at confirmation of purchase, and the subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends; renewals are charged within the 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel anytime in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
On the web, subscriptions are processed by Stripe. The subscription renews automatically until you cancel it through the billing portal linked in the app; cancelling stops future renewals, and access continues until the end of the period already paid for.
Refunds follow the policy of the platform you purchased through (Apple or Stripe) together with any mandatory statutory rights you have as a consumer. Cancelling the subscription does not delete your account or affect your free access to the rest of Polymathic.
Deleting an account is different from cancelling a subscription. For an active web subscription, Polymathic first schedules Stripe renewal to stop at the end of the current paid period. If that cannot be secured, the account is not deleted. Once deletion proceeds, the account and Tutor access end immediately, so any paid time remaining cannot be used. Polymathic cannot cancel an Apple subscription: the deletion flow warns you, links to Apple subscription management, and requires your acknowledgement before allowing immediate deletion. Apple billing continues until you cancel through your Apple ID, which remains possible after deleting the Polymathic account.
Account deletion does not necessarily erase transaction records that Polymathic, Apple, or Stripe may be required to retain for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, or other legal obligations. Payment providers also retain records under their own policies.
7. Right of withdrawal (EU/EEA consumers)
If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA and subscribe on the web, you may withdraw from the subscription contract within 14 days of subscribing, without giving any reason. Because you expressly request immediate access to the Tutor at checkout, withdrawing does not make the elapsed days free: you are refunded what you paid minus a proportionate charge for the time already elapsed when you withdraw.
To withdraw, use the withdrawal option in Account — it is shown for as long as a subscription is within its 14-day window, and confirming it cancels the subscription immediately and issues the pro-rata refund automatically. You can equally withdraw by sending an unambiguous statement to [email protected]; you may use the model withdrawal form annexed to Directive 2011/83/EU, but you don't have to.
On iOS, your purchase contract is with Apple, and the statutory withdrawal period is handled by Apple: request it at reportaproblem.apple.com.
8. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and if you are a consumer you retain all rights granted by mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.
10. Changes to these terms
If these terms change materially, the new version will be posted here with an updated effective date and highlighted in the app.

1. Der Dienst
Polymathic ist eine Lernanwendung: ein Kanon aus Konzepten, Beiträgen, Übungsfragen und Pfaden für die Allgemeinbildung. Der Kern von Polymathic ist kostenlos. Als einziges Bezahl-Extra gibt es den KI-Tutor im Abo (siehe Ziffer 6) — alles andere bleibt frei. Mit der Nutzung von Polymathic erklärst du dich mit diesen Bedingungen einverstanden; wenn du das nicht möchtest, nutze den Dienst bitte nicht.
2. Konto
Ein Konto ist freiwillig. Wenn du eines anlegst, halte deine Zugangsdaten geheim — für Aktivitäten unter deinem Konto bist du verantwortlich. Du kannst dein Konto jederzeit in der App löschen, vorbehaltlich der Schutzvorkehrungen für Abos in Ziffer 6; sobald die Löschung erfolgt, enden Konto und Tutor-Zugang sofort. Welche Daten ein Konto speichert und welche begrenzten Daten aus rechtlichen Gründen verbleiben können, beschreibt die Datenschutzerklärung.
3. Zulässige Nutzung
Missbrauche den Dienst nicht: keine Versuche, ihn zu stören oder zu überlasten, kein Austesten oder Umgehen von Sicherheitsmaßnahmen, kein automatisiertes Abgreifen der Inhalte im großen Stil und keine rechtswidrige Nutzung. Konten, die dagegen verstoßen, können wir sperren oder kündigen.
4. Inhalte und Rechte
Die redaktionellen Inhalte von Polymathic (Beiträge, Übungsfragen, Pfade, Gestaltung) sind urheberrechtlich geschützt; sie sind für dein persönliches Lernen bestimmt, nicht zur Weiterverbreitung. Historische Kunstwerke in der App sind gemeinfrei oder frei lizenziert (mit Quellenangabe an Ort und Stelle) und werden von Wikimedia Commons geladen. Einige Illustrationen sind KI-generiert. Deine eigenen Notizen und Lerndaten gehören dir — wir speichern und synchronisieren sie ausschließlich, um den Dienst bereitzustellen.
5. Verfügbarkeit und Änderungen
Polymathic wird ohne Gewähr bereitgestellt, soweit das Gesetz das zulässt. Wir können Funktionen jederzeit ändern, aussetzen oder einstellen. Deine Daten kannst du jederzeit in der App exportieren, und wir sichern sie routinemäßig — verlass dich trotzdem nicht auf Polymathic als einzige Kopie von etwas, das dir wichtig ist.
6. Das Tutor-Abo
Der KI-Tutor ist ein optionales Abonnement, das sich automatisch verlängert. Alles andere in Polymathic bleibt kostenlos. Preis und Abrechnungszeitraum siehst du, bevor du abschließt. Die Antworten des Tutors sind KI-generiert und können falsch oder unvollständig sein — nimm sie als Lernhilfe, nicht als gesicherte Tatsache oder fachlichen Rat.
Auf iOS wickelt Apple das Abo über deine Apple-ID ab. Der Betrag wird mit der Kaufbestätigung fällig; das Abo verlängert sich automatisch um denselben Zeitraum, wenn du nicht spätestens 24 Stunden vor Ablauf kündigst. Die Verlängerung wird in den letzten 24 Stunden der laufenden Periode abgebucht. Verwalten oder kündigen kannst du jederzeit unter Einstellungen → dein Name → Abonnements.
Im Web wickelt Stripe das Abo ab. Es verlängert sich automatisch, bis du es über das in der App verlinkte Abrechnungsportal kündigst; die Kündigung stoppt künftige Verlängerungen, der Zugang bleibt bis zum Ende des bereits bezahlten Zeitraums bestehen.
Erstattungen richten sich nach den Regeln der Plattform, über die du gekauft hast (Apple oder Stripe), plus deinen zwingenden gesetzlichen Verbraucherrechten. Die Kündigung des Abos löscht weder dein Konto noch ändert sie etwas an deinem freien Zugang zum Rest von Polymathic.
Die Kontolöschung ist etwas anderes als eine Abo-Kündigung. Bei einem aktiven Web-Abo veranlasst Polymathic zunächst, dass Stripe die Verlängerung zum Ende des laufenden bezahlten Zeitraums stoppt. Kann das nicht sichergestellt werden, wird das Konto nicht gelöscht. Sobald die Löschung erfolgt, enden Konto und Tutor-Zugang sofort; verbleibende bezahlte Zeit kannst du daher nicht mehr nutzen. Ein Apple-Abo kann Polymathic nicht kündigen: Der Löschvorgang warnt dich, verlinkt zur Abo-Verwaltung von Apple und verlangt deine Bestätigung, bevor die sofortige Löschung möglich ist. Apple rechnet weiter ab, bis du über deine Apple-ID kündigst; das bleibt auch nach der Löschung des Polymathic-Kontos möglich.
Eine Kontolöschung entfernt nicht zwangsläufig Transaktionsdaten, die Polymathic, Apple oder Stripe gegebenenfalls aus steuerlichen oder buchhalterischen Gründen, zur Betrugsprävention oder aufgrund anderer rechtlicher Pflichten aufbewahren müssen. Zahlungsanbieter speichern Daten außerdem nach ihren eigenen Richtlinien.
7. Widerrufsrecht (Verbraucher in EU/EWR)
Wenn du Verbraucher in der EU oder im EWR bist und im Web abonnierst, kannst du den Vertrag innerhalb von 14 Tagen ohne Angabe von Gründen widerrufen. Weil du beim Bezahlen ausdrücklich verlangst, dass der Tutor sofort startet, sind die bereits verstrichenen Tage nicht umsonst: Bei einem Widerruf erhältst du deine Zahlung zurück, abzüglich eines anteiligen Betrags für die bereits verstrichene Zeit.
Zum Widerrufen nutzt du die Widerrufsfunktion im Konto — sie wird angezeigt, solange ein Abo in seiner 14-Tage-Frist ist; die Bestätigung beendet das Abo sofort und löst die anteilige Erstattung automatisch aus. Ebenso genügt eine eindeutige Erklärung per E-Mail an [email protected]; du kannst dafür das Muster-Widerrufsformular der Richtlinie 2011/83/EU verwenden, musst es aber nicht.
Auf iOS kommt dein Kaufvertrag mit Apple zustande; den Widerruf wickelst du dort ab: reportaproblem.apple.com.
8. Haftung
Soweit gesetzlich zulässig, haften wir nicht für mittelbare Schäden oder Folgeschäden aus der Nutzung des Dienstes. Haftung, die sich gesetzlich nicht beschränken lässt, bleibt unberührt — als Verbraucher behältst du sämtliche Rechte, die dir das zwingende Verbraucherschutzrecht deines Wohnsitzlandes gewährt.
9. Anwendbares Recht
Es gilt schwedisches Recht; der zwingende Verbraucherschutz deines Wohnsitzlandes bleibt davon unberührt.
10. Änderungen dieser Bedingungen
Ändern sich diese Bedingungen wesentlich, veröffentlichen wir die neue Fassung hier mit aktualisiertem Stand und weisen in der App darauf hin.
